The guys at WooThemes are up to great things. Last week they did a double launch: their first WordPress plugin and their first iPhone application. This week they come with a challenge for the WordPress developers everywhere.
The WooTumblog Plugin is a free plugin that transforms your conventional WordPress blog into a Tumblr-like powered website. The WooTumblog plugin activates a tumblog quickpress tool on your WordPress dashboard for you to post easily, whilst displaying it neatly on your website with tumblog icons.
The Express Application has been developed together with the talented iPhone app developer Oli Kenobi, specifically for those wanting Tumblr like functionality on a WordPress powered site that they own the content for, and can manipulate however they wish. It works seamlessly with their WordPress Tumblog themes, and of course the new WooTumblog plugin. The application already got a shining review on WPCandy and is available in the app store for a price of $4.99.
This week, they invite any & all WordPress theme developers (free or premium) to develop themes that are compatible with Express & the WooTumblog plugin. In their own words:
It is our dream that the plugin would become a standard of sorts in the WP community for developing tumblog themes and because of that we actually spent time with Matt Mullenweg during development to standardize the custom taxonomy of the plugin (in a way that best fits into WP’s own development philosophies).

We have extensive documentation on the integration available here and would be happy to answer any question you might have via e-mail. In turn, we’d also *love* to feature your work on the Express website as a compatible theme. We’re hoping this will create some nice publicity for other top notch WP developers.
