The people behind WPGarage met an interesting challenge recently. They recently launched a site dedicated to the translation from German to English of a large set of Holocaust-era letters. One of the features needed was to be able to sort these letters by the date they were sent instead of the date they were published on the site.
The solution? A wonderful date field plugin which lets you sort posts by the date entered in the custom fields. With a bit of tweaking and hacking they managed to adapt it to reflect dates from up to 80 years ago.
